Mik’s Mini Bat Collection: Red Pirates

At PNC Park Mik choose a red mini bat with a Pirates logo. The logo says Pirates in yellow print on top and has the Pirate crossed bats logo below. They did have a mini bat with the PNC Park Best Ballpark in America logo (did I ever mention they brag so much with this logo that they even put the logo on the toilet paper roll dispensers in the bathrooms?), but he decided he did not want it even though I told him he could still get the logo one. By the way mini bat shopping at the Pirates was kind of annoying because all the mini bats were on the top of racks with t-shirts and I had to pick up each design to let Mik see it and there were at least 15 different combinations of logos and colors.

Mik's Mini Bat Collection: All the Ballparks 2009

At the Louisville Slugger Factory & Museum they do personalized bats including mini bats. The mini bats they personalize are the thick end ones like the Cincinnati Reds one Mik got, but the personalized one was only $17.99 plus tax compared to the Reds on being $25. The only option is to have the mini bat as a natural color. You can have up to two lines of text, but Mik just got one line saying All the Ballparks 2009. When he was thinking about what he would get on his bat before we got to the museum he thought he might have it say All the Ballparks 2009 Summer of Hell, but he ended up not getting the second line.

Mik's Mini Bat Collection: Louisville Slugger Museum

At the Louisville Slugger Museum we each got a free mini bat at the end of the factory tour. Mik and I got the regular one they give out and Dad got a special one for Father's Day. The regular one is a natural color one. It has the museum's logo on it in black ink.

Mik's Mini Bat Collection: Comerica Park

I just posted about the Orange Detroit Tigers bat Mik got at Comerica Park. He got that one because he does not have a logo one for the Tigers and it looked cool. He also spotted this one of Comerica Park. He asked me to choose which one he should get and I just told him he could get both, since I was also in the same predicament trying to choose between two balls and was leaning towards getting both. It certainly was not fair for me to end up with my two balls and still make him choose only one bat, so we both got two things at Comerica Park.

The Comerica Park mini bat is natural on the bottom and has a brick design background on the top. On the brick design is an oval image of the park that has Comerica above the image and Park below the image. It is a lot like Mik's Wrigley Field bat.

Mik's Mini Bat Collection: Orange Detroit Tigers

At Comerica Park there was quite a few mini bats to choose from. Mik had a hard time deciding and actually ended up with two bats from here. This one is an Orange colored one. It has the Tigers D logo in the middle of the words Detroit Tigers.

Mik’s Mini Bat Collection: Wrigley Field

Wrigley Field was one of the few places Mik was hoping to not get just a logo bat because he already has the best Cubs logo blue one in his collection. It seemed like there was not anything better until we spotted one in the case upside down that was blue on top and natural on the bottom. It looked like it might be a player one, but we also thought it could be a Wrigley Field one. It turned out to be a Wrigley Field one and Mik got it. It has a picture of Wrigley Field in an oval on the blue part. It also has a Cubs logo in the corner of the photo. Above the image it says Wrigley Field.

Mik’s Mini Bat Collection: Two Colored Indians

At Progressive Field Mik got a Cleveland Indians mini bat with a red handle part and a darker red top part. On the top part it says Indians and has the Indians Indian mascot logo.

Mik's Mini Bat Collection: Reds Great American Ballpark

At Great American Ballpark Mik got a mini bat that is a dark wood color. It is about the same length as the regulr mini bats, but it is about twice as fat at the big end. The logos on it include a gold Reds logo and a large Louisville Slugger logo. In gold lettering it says Cincinnati Reds and Great American Ballpark.

Mik’s Mini Bat Collection: Negro Leagues Baseball Museum

At the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum Mik got a bat with the Museum’s logo on a natural colored mini bat. The logo is in simply in black ink on the bat, but it is not just a simple logo. The logo includes a ballplayer in the middle of it.

Mik’s Mini Bat Collection: Kauffman Stadium

Mik found a really cool mini bat of Kauffman Stadium. The mini bat is natural, but the end area has a blue background. On the blue there is a KC Royals logo on the left side. In the middle is an image of Kauffman Stadium. On the right side of the stadium is the Kansas City Royals 40th Anniversary logo. Above the stadium image it says Kauffman and below is says Stadium. Mik was concerned about it costing more than the other mini bats, but it is way cooler looking and very unique to this season.

Mik’s Mini Bat Collection: Purple Rockies

At the Rockies Mik choose the Purple colored mini bat with the Colorado Rockies Mountain logo. There was another cool one that had the logo and said Baseball with Altitude, but it was not purple and since the Dbacks are no longer purple this was the only chance for him to get a purple mini bat to make his collection as colorful as possible, so he went with the purple one.

Mik's Mini Bat Collection: Field of Dreams

At the Field of Dreams they had a black or natural color as the choices for the mini bats. Mik refused to get out of the car, but he did eagerly make the choice between the two options when I asked him. He went with the natural one, which he tends to lean towards often. The mini bat has a pretty simple design that says Field of Dreams Dyersville, Iowa in black lettering.

Mik’s Mini Bat Collection: Dark Wood Brewers

At the Brewer’s Mik chose the dark wood natural bat. He has some natural wood bats, but none of them are dark wood like this one. The logo on it is the Brewers logo with a baseball behind the larger Brewers name.

Mik’s Mini Bat Collection: Cardinals Bird Logo

Mik choose the dark blue mini bat with the Cardinals logo with the two Cardinal Birds perched on a bat. I offered for him to also get the All Star Game 2009 one, but he said he did not want it because we are not actually going to the All Star Game.

Mik's Mini Bat Collection: Green White Sox

At the White Sox Team Shop Mik had a hard time deciding between the natural and the green colored mini bats. Both had the same logo. Mik finally decided on the green one since it is a unique color for his collection and still appropriate with it being traditional for the Sox to do the green thing in relation to Irish heritage unlike all the teams making pink bats just to get little girls to want them and not even to put pink ribbons on them or something like that.

Mik’s Mini Bat Collection: HHH Metrodome 1982-2009

Mik had already got his mini bat at the game, but when we went to the Dome Shop across the street from the Metrodome to hunt down a logo only sticker for the car Dad found a HHH Metrodome 1982-2009 mini bat that we just had to get for Mik. He was actually quite excited with this find and even posed with this bat happily.

The bat has the logo for the farewell season like my baseball, although it does not exactly outright state farewell season on it. It has a cool background with little Twins logos all over in the blue part. Definitely a cool bat for his collection considering it is one of the few ballpark bats he has (only other one I know he has for sure is a Nationals Inaugural Game one I got him last year and he might have a Farewell Season or Breaking Ground type one for the current Busch Stadium as I vaguely remember him getting one like that when we saw the previous Busch Stadium in its last year).

Mik’s Mini Bat Collection: Silver Twins

The mini bat selection at the souvenir kiosks at the Metrodome was not too bad. They only had the one Twins word logo design, but they had it in about six colors, which is about normal for mini bats. Mik ended up choosing the silver one because the silver color seemed to contrast and show off the logo the best.

Mik's Mini Bat Collection: Mariners Logos

The mini bat selection at the Mariners was pretty good. Mik ended up choosing one that has the three different Mariners logos on it. It includes the S logo, the Mariners logo, and the circle Seattle Mariners logo. It has a natural wood finish.

Mik's Mini Bat Collection: Orange Giants

The Giants had a pretty good selection of mini bat colors and I think also two different logo designs to choose from. Mik went with the orange colored bat since he does not have one of that color in his collection at all. The logo part says Giants and also has the SF logo on it.

Mik’s Mini Bat Collection: Oakland Athletics

We were early enough to the As game that we went to the team shop before the game, but they did not have any mini bats in there and we only got our sticker from the car in that shop. The guy told us, though, that the program guy in the park had mini bats. Mik did not have a selection to choose from, which is kind of odd since usually there is at least a few colors to choose from and sometimes even different logo designs to choose from. The bat he ended up with is black or dark green (Dad thinks it is black, I think it is dark green) on the top part and natural wood on the bottom part. The logo is a nice Oakland Athletics circle logo with the A in the middle. It might have been the only choice, but it is at least a good looking bat.
