Kj’s Baseball Collection: Niagara Falls

One would think that getting a baseball at Disneyland was as far as my non-baseball sightseeing stops part of the trip collection would go, but it is not. I actually was not surprised to find one at Disneyland, as Mik got me one from there once when he went on a camp trip to California. Finding one at the Maid of the Mist gift shop at Niagara Falls, however, really surprised me. At first Dad thought they only had the tee ball soft ones, but then he picked up one in the basket below an it was a hard regular baseball. While we did not actually go on the Maid of the Mist boat ride I just could not pass up getting this ball for my trip baseball collection. Besides it does still show Niagara Falls.

The ball says Niagara Falls on one side. It has a picture image of the bottom of the falls that includes the shoreline and the Maid of the Mist boat near the falls. Another side has a closer view of the Maid of the Mist boat. Opposite that is the Maid of the Mist Since 1846 logo.

Kj’s Baseball Collection: Forbes Field 1909 World Series

The second baseball I got at PNC Park is one commemorating the 1909 World Series. I thought it was cool to get even though it does not say 100th anniversary. I could not settle for just this one, though, since it says Forbes Field instead of PNC Park, however I decided to get this one along with the PNC Park one since we did after all go to the site of Forbes Field before going to PNC Park. The ball has a Forbes Field 1909 World Series logo on one side and a Pirates P logo on the other side. It also says 1909 World Series Champions.

Kj’s Baseball Collection: PNC Park The Best Ballpark in America

One of the two baseballs I got at PNC Park has the PNC Park The Best Ballpark in America logo on it. There is nothing else on it, but it does have an interesting white with dirt looking background design.

PNC Park is big on them being the Best Ballpark in America. I have no idea if they were somehow actually voted that or just kind of decided it themselves, but personally we still love Wrigley the best and Progressive Field in Cleveland is about tied for second with PNC Park, Nationals Park (my opinion only), and Chase Field (Mik’s opinion only). Come to think of it is not part of a park being the best have to do with enjoying watching the home team? Anyways part of what makes it not seem the best is how much they try to promote they are the best with the logo that is on my baseball being all over the park. I think it goes way too far when I found the logo was not just on the soap dispensers in the restrooms, but also on the toilet paper dispensers (see photo below).

Kj’s Baseball Collection: Louisville Slugger

The Louisville Slugger Factory & Museum is pretty much all about bats, so I really should not have expected much of anything for my baseball collection. However, I kind of expected to find a cool ball if I found any in the gift shop. Thus I was kind of disappointed and almost did not even get the one they did have. It is just a simple one that has a white strip and a blue strip. On the white strip is a Louisville Slugger logo that says Since 1884. At least it was less disappointing than finding their cool 125 anniversary logo t-shirts only to learn they were out of my size. It was not entirely disappointing, though, since I did get a nice 125th anniversary baseball cap.

Kj's Baseball Collection: Comerica Park

The second baseball I got at Comerica Park is one of the park. One strip has a brick background. On this strip is a Comerica Park logo and a Detroit Tigers D logo. The other strip has an image of the park. Many of the ballpark balls I have gotten just have a field view on this strip and the view does not look too unique. This one is unique because its view is of the two tigers on the scoreboard.

Kj's Baseball Collection: Tigers 1984 World Series Champions 25th Anniversary

One of the two baseballs I got at Comerica Park was a 25th Anniversary one. This ball commemorates the Tigers winning their last World Series in 1984 when they triumphed over the Padres. The ball has a 25th Anniversary logo that says World Series Champions in a ribbon above the 25 and a ribbon that says 1984 and 20099 with a Detroit Tigers D logo in the middle. On one strip of the ball their is a SD Padres logo on one side, a little version of the 25th logo in the middle, and a Tigers D logo on the other side. Opposite the big 25th logo is World Series 1984 logo.

Kj’s Baseball Collection: Wrigley Field

There were to two different Wrigley Field balls to choose from. One had the Marquee sign on it saying Welcome to the Friendly Confines and a view of the field, but I know I already have one with the marquee sign on it even though I know it is not the exact same since it has the brick ivy look and not the field view. I ended choosing one with a brick design as the entire background. It has a big Cubs logo on one side. One another side it says Wrigley Field. All over it has little logos including the Cubs logo, be aware of foul ball signs, and the marquee sign.

Kj’s Baseball Collection: 2009 Interleague Play Progressive Field

Besides getting the Heritage Park baseball at Progressive Field, I also got a 2009 Interleague Play at Progressive Field commemorative baseball. The ball is silver and says 2009 Interleague Play Progressive Field on one side. On another side it lists the three Interleague match ups and the dates for them including the Brewers @ Indians, which is the Interleague match up we saw. It has also what I think is an Interleague logo of two eagles with one saying American and the other saying National.

Kj’s Baseball Collection: Heritage Park

The did have a Progressive Field ball when we went to the Indians game, but I ended up going with the Heritage Park ball, since that is part of the ballpark. The ball says Heritage Park one side. On the other side it says Where Baseball Legends Live; World Series Champions 1920 1948; American League Champions 1920, 1948, 1954, 1995, 1997. The other strip of the ball has a brick design and three different styles of Indians logos on it.

Kj's Baseball Collection: Great American Ballpark

At the Reds game I got a souvenir baseball with a Great American Ballpark image. It is just a simple image of the field, but the logo part is pretty interesting. The other strip is red and has a Reds logo on one side and says Cincinnati Reds on the other.

Kj’s Baseball Collection: Negro Leagues Baseball Museum

At the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum I got a souvenir baseball that has the museum’s logo on it. The ball is mostly just a plain white baseball. The logo is located on one side. It is actually a rather interesting logo. It has Jackie Robinson batting as the central aspect of the diamond shaped logo.

Kj’s Baseball Collection: Patriotic Royals

The Royals did not have that great of a selection of balls. I really hoped to find a 40th anniversary since they came in the same year as the Padres or at least Kauffman Stadium one. They had a lot of Kauffman Stadium stuff that also had the 40th Anniversary logo including Mik’s mini bat, but that design was not on any baseballs. At least the staff was helpful and looked around to make sure they did not have any. I ended up choosing one that has stars and stripes on one strip and a white strip that has a blue and red Royals logo.

Kj’s Baseball Collection: Silver and Purple Rockies

None of the balls in the selection for the Rockies was as purple as I would have liked. Nor did they have any with Coors Field, which was really odd when they had a whole lot of Coors Field merchandise including car stickers, pins, mouse pads, t-shirts, playing cards, etc. I ended up getting the baseball that is purple on one strip and silver on the other strip. It has the Rockies mountain logo on both strips.

Kj's Baseball Collection: Field of Dreams Signed by Owner

They had the Field of Dreams souvenir baseballs as is or for a few dollars more signed by Don Lansing, who owns the land the Field of Dreams movie set is located. I chose the slightly more expensive version because it is kind of cool that it is signed. It is an actual signature, too, and not those fake ones you get on the souvenir balls at many of the ballparks that have the year's roster supposedly signing it.

Kj’s Baseball Collection: Miller Park

At the Brewers’ I found a ballpark baseball for their Miller Park. The baseball does not have that interesting of a view of the field, especially since the Brewers logo is over the image. However, it does have a pretty cool and intricate Miller Park logo on one side. Another side also has the Brewers logo just on white.
